The gay footballer.
https://www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11095/12614531/jake-daniels-blackpool-forward-becomes-uks-first-active-male-professional-footballer-to-come-out-publicly-as-gay

Does anyone really care about this these days?

I always thought the reason for the lack of queers in the game is very few of them actually like football.

I know about 5 and only one shows the slightest interest.

What’s the next news, female rugby player comes out as straight?

Old man comes out as bigot shock!

Why don't you keep your narrow minded views to yourself?

Couldn't give a fuck if any one is gay or straight but clever on the lad. As he will make more through adverts than he will through football

Good luck to the fella, I would suggest that football has had exactly the same percentage of gay players as society at large only they didn't feel able to come out.
Can't understand why, it's not like they would have thousands of gabshites abusing them every week

"News" (a.k.a. Clickbait) being the key word here.

Brave lad especially as he’s only at the start of his career.

They’ll be people who won’t except it but that will be more of a minority these days.

He’ll get stick at away grounds and from away support but the novelty of that will wear off. Zouma kicking his cat didn’t get much mileage at all did it.

Good luck to him, I for one though couldn’t care less if he’s gay or straight, no room for worrying about all that as far as I’m concerned.

He ain't stupid.

Comes out as gay and rakes it in, respect to him and his agent.

Personally I couldn't give a shit if he is gay or not, what would concern me though is if he was fucking rubbish in front of goal and I wasn't allowed to give him abuse for that just because he is gay.

Would be a good start - hopefully not a false dawn.

I'd like to see key players of the so-called Big 6 come out if this is going to move forward, but I expect they've all got "Keep schtum" clauses in their financially lucrative contracts.

An interesting slant would be how well paid players in the same team who view homosexuality as a sin interact with their newly de-closetted team mates, and then how they act when faced with newly de-closetted opponents.

twoleftfeet - it's quite straightforward really...

"You fucking twat!" - OK

"You fucking gay twat!" - Not OK.

He won’t get any stick at away games and will be on a massive earner now. Smart decision and a good career move. Gets to see loads of cock in the changing room and will be a household name with accompanying sponsorship despite probably being not that good at football.

Not only has he just made himself undroppable and unsackable, I bet one of the big clubs come in for him now.

Re: The gay footballer.
From what I can see, he's 17 and just been on loan to Bamber Bridge. Obviously not anywhere close to being a professional footballer really at the moment. After he's released from Blackpool, he will now have a nice enough social media influencer career ahead of him though, which I'm sure didn't enter his or his agents minds at all.

Three days ago Adidas, one of the biggest brands on the planet and with over 4 million followers on Twitter sent a message out to the 4 million saying ’welcome to the family Jake’.

I’m sure they use that huge platform to welcome all the 17 year olds playing lower league football who have spent the season on loan to a non league club to their brand.

When I see posts like this, I'm glad you went through all the shit with your divorce. Makes me happy.

Re: The gay footballer.
I think the point is that he doesn’t have to keep it a secret anymore from his family, friends and teammates. Maybe it will encourage more gays to come out and not have to live a secret life. Then we can all get on with our lives as normal.
